Our Story

David and Kaitlyn met almost four years ago in the last place that anyone could have ever expected… work. Okay, okay, not the most interesting or unexpected of places but that’s where it happened! After a few weeks of David working up the courage to ask Kaitlyn out for a date, there were a series of adorable mishaps that sealed their bond. 🙂 Flash forward to now and David and Kaitlyn are GETTING MARRIED!

Both full-time employees at UCF and part-time graduate students, they live in Orlando, Florida with their sweet fur child, Elle. They can’t wait to start this next phase of their lives together and are so happy to have you be a part of it!

We can’t wait to get married and are so honored to have you in our lives! If you would like to help us start our new life together, we have registered for items we would love to have in our home.

How I Got The “YES!”

Step 1: Drive to a secret location…

Tell her NOTHING about where you’re going! A surprise like this will help start the weekend off right. I found this awesome cabin online available for the long weekend. It had every amenity that you could possibly want: hot tub, sauna, waterfall walls and most importantly, privacy.  It was an 8 hour drive and Kaitlyn had no idea where we were going. She was totally shocked when we pulled up to the cabin and I finally stopped pretending to be lost. 😉

Step 2: Explore somewhere new…

I found this amazing town in Georgia called Helen. It’s completely themed as a Bavarian/German Village. Fun fact about Kaitlyn: she LOVES anything German. Again, I told her nothing about where we were headed to in the morning, but as we drove into the town her eyes lit up! We started with an amazing German style breakfast at Hofer’s German Bakery, then we got some information about the best places to park and explore from the locals and set off on our way. There was live music, horse drawn carriages, old shops, amazing food, giant beers, waterfalls and more.

Step 3: Add wine🍷🍇🍷

… because that always makes everything better. After our hearty lunch at the Old Heidelberg German Restaurant & Pub, I told Kaitlyn that we needed to get on the road to our next activity. Unbeknownst to her, I had scheduled a Wine Cave Tour at the Yonah Mountain Vineyard. This place was mind blowing!! The vineyard was immaculate, the tour was amazing and the wine was divine 😉. We could not have had a better time walking around the property, learning about their process, listening to live music and of course, tasting the wine! If you’re in the area, this is THE PLACE to go.

Step 4: the final step…

No matter how expected, surprise her with the time and location of the ring. Her reaction makes it all worth it.

So, I had planned that all of these surprises and events would lead up to the biggest surprise (being the proposal) but as I laid in bed watching the sun come up through the giant cabin windows across from our bed, I thought that maybe I should propose as she woke up. This would have been reminiscent to the way I first told Kaitlyn I loved her years ago. Not to mention, as we went out and explored the town and winery, she would have her ring on the whole time and would be able to tell strangers that we just got engaged. I also thought that it would be even more fun being fiancés in these locations and exploring while in this new stage of our relationship! So I got the ring, placed it on her nightstand (atop her phone) and waited. I’m a bit of an early riser so this took hours. ⏰ 😉 BUT eventually, she started to stir. I tried to keep her attention on the view of the mountains and me at first, but then she wanted to check what time it was and turned to her phone. And there she found the box. I could not have asked for a better reaction. The shock and happiness still gets me choked up today. She handed me the box, I did my short but sweet speech and asked her to marry me…. and then…. she said YES!
